SpeargrassSafaris · Uganda

Exceptional, tailor-made safaris led by people who know this land — where every journey turns today's challenges into tomorrow's opportunities for wildlife, forests and communities.
In January 2026, three of us sat with Ranger Richard in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park, talking about the speargrass problem — an invasive, highly flammable grass overtaking Uganda's protected areas, unpalatable to most wildlife and a growing fire risk in a changing climate.
We all knew the link between invasive species and fire. So we started brainstorming — and an idea was born right there in the savanna.
Speargrass Safaris gives like-minded visitors an extraordinary African experience. The profit is dedicated to environmental research and to the people protecting these landscapes — supporting rangers and communities alike.
The people of Uganda — the real Pearl
Healthy environments, empowered people and problem-solving research — building a bright future for Uganda's people, fauna and flora.
All profit flows into conservation, ranger support and community resilience. Resilient people for resilient landscapes.
Forests, savannahs, gorillas, mountains and real daily life — custom-built around your interests.
Invasive, flammable, and spreading across protected land. The fire you see here is the reason Speargrass Safaris exists.

Rangers protect Uganda's parks, wildlife and forests every single day, often with very little — and the rural communities living alongside them are just as central to the story. The profit from every Speargrass journey flows back to both: the rangers on the front line and the cooperating communities across Uganda's rural spaces.
Empower resilient people — rangers and neighbours alike — and you build resilient landscapes. That is the whole point of travelling with us.
